Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS)

Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS)

Mortgage-backed securities (MBS) are investments secured by a pool of mortgages. Beard Capital, a leading financial advisory firm in Kenya, offers expertise in MBS structuring and trading. We help clients navigate the complexities of this asset class, providing tailored solutions to meet specific investment objectives.

Understanding Mortgage-Backed Securities

MBS are created when multiple mortgages are bundled together and sold as securities to investors. These investors receive payments from the principal and interest of the underlying mortgages. The risk associated with MBS depends on the quality of the underlying mortgages. Understanding the nuances of MBS is crucial for informed investment decisions.

Types of Mortgage-Backed Securities

Several types of MBS exist, each with different levels of risk and return. These include agency MBS, backed by government-sponsored enterprises, and non-agency MBS, which are not government-backed and therefore carry higher risk. Mortgage-backed securities are a significant part of the global capital markets.
